Today, the energy storage industry is booming, driven by strong market demand and a growing recognition of its role in delivering reliable, affordable, and clean energy. Last week, Advanced Energy United had the pleasure of sponsoring Energy Storage USA, co-hosted with SolarPLUS USA, in Dallas, where our team engaged with developers, grid operators, and other leaders driving progress across the sector. During the event, my colleagues Matthew Boms and Rahiem Swann took the stage to discuss how storage is helping address reliability challenges in Texas, the critical role batteries are playing in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) market, and how accelerating load growth from data centers is poised to shape future demand for storage solutions. Their conversation reinforced that, while storage is one of the most versatile and ready-to-deploy tools in our toolbox to address modern grid challenges in Texas and beyond, policies and regulations must keep pace to meet the moment. At United, we are energized by the rapid growth of the storage industry and remain committed to working alongside decision-makers to champion forward-looking policies that allow these technologies to thrive.

Canary Media: Will California Fund or Kill its Thriving Virtual Power Plant Program?
Canary Media reports that California lawmakers are weighing a proposal to eliminate the state’s Demand Side Grid Support (DSGS) program, which pays consumers to reduce their energy use or who provide power to the grid during times of peak electricity demand. United’s Leah Rubin Shen emphasized that DSGS should be maintained to provide stability while lawmakers establish a clear pathway to integrate these resources into a stronger, more durable market framework that builds on the program’s success. PV Magazine: California Bill Would Unlock Distributed Energy Participation in Grid Resource Adequacy Market
PV Magazine reports that California Senator Josh Becker has introduced legislation (SB 913) aimed at integrating customer-owned energy resources—including home batteries, electric vehicles, and smart thermostats—into the state’s grid as a formal reliability tool and to compete alongside traditional power plants. United’s Brandon García spoke to the benefits of the bill in lowering energy costs, increasing grid reliability, and maximizing the use of existing infrastructure. Read more.>
